About Lake Elsinore, California

Lake Elsinore is a city located in Riverside County.  It is home to more than 70,000 residents.  It covers approximately twelve square miles and encompasses the following zip codes: 92530, 92531, and 92532.   Lake Elsinore is a natural freshwater in the east of the Santa Ana Mountains and fed by the San Jacinto River. Originally named Laguna Grande by Spanish explorers, it was renamed for the town of Elsinore, established on its northeastern shore on April 9, 1888. Louis D. Strother purchased the land surrounding the lake in the late 19th century and began promoting the area as a resort destination. He named the lake “Lake Elsinore” after his hometown of Elsinore, Denmark. Over time, the name was adopted for the lake, the nearby city, and the surrounding region. Today, Lake Elsinore is not only known for its historical significance but also for its recreational opportunities, including boating, fishing, and various water sports, making it a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts in Southern California

Navarrete v. Kinkisharyo Int’l, LLC, 845 F. App’x 515 (9th Cir. 2021)

An employee who was disabled due to depression, anxiety, and suicidal ideation filed suit against his employer claiming discrimination and failure to accommodate, in violation of California’s Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA). The United States District Court for the Central District of California, R. Gary Klausner, J., granted the employer summary judgment. The employee appealed.  The Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit held that: 1. the employer’s reasons for terminating employee, in that he had committed timecard fraud, was legitimate and nondiscriminatory; 2 the co-worker was not a proper comparator; 3. the employer did not fail to accommodate employee’s mental health disability; and 4. a witness had personal knowledge of events triggering employee’s termination, rendering his testimony admissible on motion for summary judgment.
